Mark Thomas vs. The Warlord

One problem I find with many jobber matches from the 90's is that plenty of time is given to show the mainstream hero or villain's face from every angle, yet we have to strain our necks in a futile attempt to look through the window of the television screen to get a better view of the beautiful suffering jobber's face.  Eh, c'est la vie.  Besides, beautiful BODIES (like Mark Thomas') aren't so easily hidden.

The Warlord is huge (HUGE) and vicious, a no frills, no nonsense kind of heel.  Mark Thomas is well-built too, but also smiling and enthusiastic.  Mark seems to enjoy his job (or why would he keep coming back?), but he just doesn't have that vicious streak.  The Warlord, however, does, making for a very hot match-up.

Not only is Mark Thomas already in the ring for this (mis)match, but the cameraman can't even be bothered to show his face during his brief introduction.  (Fortunately his back is a thing of beauty, too.)

An effortless lift...

...and toss.

Once again, Mark Thomas must suffer the distraction of a constantly chattering manager, this time Slick.

With a well-placed kick, the Warlord removes Mark Thomas' head.

The destruction is slow and methodical.

...And the Warlord relishes every moment of it.

A glimpse of Mark's suffering.

The Warlord takes off Mark Thomas' head...again.

The Warlord slowly saunters after a suffering Mark Thomas, who feebly and pathetically attempts to crawl away.

There was no question that the Warlord would catch up to Mark Thomas.

The rise...

...and fall...

....and crash.  By all rights, the match could end here.

...But the Warlord favors a full nelson finisher.

Why go for a pin...

...when you can feel your opponent slipping...

...into oblivion?

Dear cameraman: I will not hesitate to kill you if you cut away from the beautiful Mark Thomas fading into unconsciousness to show us a close-up of Slick and his annoying chatter.

The Warlord tosses...

...his useless jobber...

...away.

Mark Thomas vs. Dino Bravo

The image above foreshadows doom when Mark Thomas has to go up against beefy heel Dino Bravo, accompanied by his evil friends, Earthquake and Jimmy "Mouth of the South" Hart.  How did such a fine young specimen end up just lying on the mat, his huge, muscular build rendered completely useless?

Once again, Mark Thomas has packed all that beef into a black singlet.

With Earthquake at ringside, Mark Thomas' attention is unfortunately divided.

Two sizable athletes move in...

...but Dino Bravo gets the upper hand.

After only a couple minutes, Mark Thomas is already completely out of it.

Dino Bravo could defeat Mark Thomas in almost-record time, but lifts him up after a two-count to continue his dominance of the battered hunk.

Choking--and humiliating--to impress his friends.

Illegal interference with the ref's back turned.

The chest on Mark Thomas...!

Mark Thomas is the very image of helplessness.

Dino Bravo brings his weight down on Mark Thomas' face--and that's nothing to sneeze at!

Feeling merciful, this time Dino Bravo allows the three-count.

Post-match humiliation!

Jimmy Hart and Earthquake enter the ring post-match.  Mark Thomas is powerless to defend himself.

And it seemed bad when Dino Bravo stomped on Mark Thomas' face...!

Again...?

Yes, again!

The handsome Mark Thomas is crushed, and likely has no idea what is going on around him.

Mark Thomas heaves and gasps, his powerful lungs suddenly unable to get enough air.

The villains circle their helpless prey.

Q: What's the best way for a TRUE jobber to leave a match?

Mark Thomas heaving and gasping as the villains circle.

    1. Okay, I hate to say it, but I couldn't find this match on YouTube. (And I don't know how to upload my jobber DVD's to the computer. I don't think I have the right stuff...) BUT. I did find Mark Thomas vs. The Barbarian. (That match is at about 35:10.)

Or here's Mark Thomas vs. The Undertaker, the same match at a couple places (I couldn't really tell which had better quality):

    1. I hate to say it, but all I know for the date is that it's between 1990 and 1994, at least according to the DVD label. And sadly, I'm out of touch with the guy I bought it from. (VERY sadly, in fact--he had a ton of jobber DVD's for sale!)
